As you may be aware, LOGICT (Local Government ICT Forum) was officially established in the West Cape on 7 November 2006. It was the first such forum to be established in South Africa and many other Provinces now plan to emulate it. In terms of the Forum's constitution LOGICT is, amongst other things, strategically focussed on maximising the value of Local Government ICT and IM investment by leveraging economies of scale in solution provision, maintenance and support. One such area that has been identified is that of wide area network (WAN) connectivity. In order to leverage such economies of scale it is important to first understand what WAN connectivity is in place and what it is being used for, otherwise incorrect recommendations may be made. The analysis and conclusions reached will be discussed at the LOGICT Forum itself, where the different municipalities are represented, and the final recommendations forwarded to municipalities. The LOGICT Forum only has powers to act as a recommending and advisory board. It will be each municipality's decision as to how they will implement any of the LOGICT Forum recommendations. Kindly complete the on-line questionare (one for each different WAN connection) and return to the LOGICT Forum webmaster by clicking on the "Submit by email" button. You may access the survey form by clicking here or under "Documents/Surveys on the front page.
This survey is being conducted "by Local Government for Local Government".
